Jerry Bell has over four decades of business experience.
Jerry Bell is the West Texas Branch Manager for one of the businesses of Johnson Controls, Inc, a 123-year-old worldwide Fortune 100 corporation. He has been with Johnson Controls for 44 years. He transferred to Lubbock from Dallas in 1985.
Jerry Bell successfully supported changes to the Local Government Code that can lower cities operating costs.
His work includes extensive experience with numerous cities across West Texas. He served as Johnson Controls State of Texas legislative liaison for 6 years, covering 3 legislative sessions. He successfully supported changes to the Local Government Code that can lower cities operating costs. His company has performed numerous contracts with West Texas cities including the City of Lubbock.
His Lubbock office covers 100,000 sq. miles of West Texas. Jerry led his Team to growth from a $3 million business in 1985 to over $20 million. He manages one of the many business units of Johnson Controls world-wide $35 billion corporation.
Jerry is closing the chapter of his life related to his career with Johnson Controls at the end of May. He will have no conflicts of interest and will work full-time for the citizen’s of District 4.
Jerry Bell is the current Chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Lubbock.
He is the current Chair and has served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Lubbock since 2002. He also served on the Finance Subcommittee of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee for the 2007 bond proposal. Following that service he was a member of the ListenLubbock PAC. Jerry also served on City of Lubbock committee’s to review ordinances for Electronic Signs and Cell Towers.
Bell is a 1998 graduate of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Leadership Lubbock program and a member of the LL Alumni association.
Jerry Bell is a 23-year member of The Rotary Club of Lubbock, the longest tenured service club in Lubbock. He served as President in 2004-2005.

He served for 14 years on a Texas Tech University College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board. He served as Chairman in 1994-1995 and was inducted into the Texas Tech Engineering Technology Academy in 1998.
Jerry Bell gives back to the city with years of community service leadership.
Community activity also includes service as a Junior Achievement volunteer classroom teacher at Lubbock ISD’s Jackson Elementary in 2003. Other past activities include Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Lubbock where Bell served as a Big Brother for several years.
He also currently serves on a fund raising committee benefiting The Garrison Geriatric Education and Care Center, and is on the Dean’s Council for the TTU College of Education.
Jerry Bell's military service was as a U.S. Army Medic from 1966-1968.
Jerry Bell’s military service was as a U.S. Army Medic from 1966-1968 where his longest assignment was on a Special Wound Care ward in Japan, treating casualties of the Vietnam War.
